Doctor Charles Grande’s memoir through darkest Africa of the early 1930’s. Pygmies, cannibals, The Queen of Evil, puppets, monkeys, radiation poisoning, the world’s ugliest woman and more. Songs, a witch doctor, Dr. Kokou’s voodoo spell of auto-animation, a ritual of fecundity and a cameo by a legally distinct not Tarzan. And more!

Africa is a dangerous and frightening place.  It is home to vicious, unimaginable creatures: Dendroaspis polylepis or Black Mamba, the fastest and deadliest snake in the world; Formicidae Dorylinae- fire ants that move in armies of 20 million eating anything in their path including litters of puppies and sleeping children. And the most dangerous creature of all Africa- Anthropophagous Homo Sapiens- the legendary human cannibal.  I can assure you cannibals are no myth for I have lived among them.  Of the horrible things I have seen in my career the cannibal’s ritualized killing and eating of his own species is among the worst. Terrible!  Terrible. The heart of the savage jungle is not a thing a man can know and stay sane but I did. You will visit the bizarre, the savage and the unexplained as I take you into the treacherous world of my expeditions. We travel together into the peril called- Dark Jungle.
